Royal jelly report
The story royal jelly is set on a rural farm in the late 1950s.The main characters are called Albert Taylor, Mabel Taylor and Victoria Taylor. The plot for the story is about Mabel and Albert having a baby that doesn’t drink her milk so Albert gives the baby royal jelly without telling Mabel which has consequences.
The story is set in their house. Albert and Victoria are a married couple and Victoria is their baby. They all live on a rural bee farm which is Albert’s. Albert has always been fascinated with anything to with bees from the age of 12 he had his first bee hive. Bees don’t seem to care him and he has never been stung. He is quite laid back and is quite a big guy. Victoria at the start is described as having a “translucent quality” but at the end she turns into a “fat and white” baby. Mabel is a stressed out first time mother. She is always worried about Victoria but for different reason at the start and at the end. The situation at the start of the story is that baby Victoria won’t eat and is becoming drastically skinny. Mabel was extremely worried but Albert wasn’t and was just looking for ways to make Victoria eat.
Albert had been looking through his bee magazine and found things about royal jelly. He found out that “ the bee larvae increases in weight 1500 times in five days”, Albert had always had a strange relationship with bees. He had never been stung by one and he never wore gloves or used smoke to control the bees which is quite odd.
Albert’s plan is to feed Baby Victoria himself without Mabel involved at all. Albert offers to do the next two feeds to apparently let Mabel go to sleep. Baby Victoria drinks two ounces at the first feed and then 3 ounces at the second feed which is very strange considering she wouldn’t drink when amble gave her Milk. Mabel was over the moon and couldn’t wait to feed Victoria herself.
