The Great Debaters illustrates the verbal communication style seamlessly, the power of communication is the strongest weapon that we mankind have obtained through generations. Communication could as well be devastating if we did not know how to use it properly. Professor (Tolson) uses a lot of contradicting statements, thus confusion the audience to believe in him. Silence is not an option when trying to communicate, and especially when using words as weapons, which indeed are the most powerful weapon we posses.
Definitely, while conveying a massage that needs to be strongly felt, a raise in the voice would highlight the expression, making a deeper connection with the receiver of the massage. It also helps with clearing out any unnecessary fallacies. The reason why they have a loud tone while debating is because they want there words to be heard, and not only to be heard, but to be felt.
contradiction works as a sort of confusion towards the receiver of the massage that the massage is being conveyed too. (Dr. James Farmer). The power of politeness and directness is what Dr. James Farmer demonstrated while coming to an arrangement with the sherif, the power of persuasion through politeness and very low tone of voice along with an inviting body posture would get anyone engaged and with no doubt agree to the terms presented. Dr. James Farmer was threatening the sherif without affirming to it, this is often referred to as indirect and direct language.
You are my teacher and that's makes the bond of trust amongst us a strong one. The verbal massage could be a powerful massage, but without giving it some accent to clarify and highlight the real concerns the massage would be rather unclear to the receiver, living the massage open for ones own interpretation, which at times are very different.
