Ever since India was discovered in 1498 by the Portuguese sailor, Vasco Da Gama, many European nations sent their explorers to India to establish trade partnerships the country. The Indian spices, among many other commodities, were exported to Europe with the exorbitant profit margins making this exciting business opportunity for the European trade and shipping companies.
