The disorder is also known as the Heller’s syndrome and is said to be a pervasive development disorder (PDD). DSM-IV-TR diagnostic criteria propose that the infant develops for the first two years after birth shows normal symptoms of availability of age-appropriate nonverbal and verbal communication, play, and social relationship (Tasman et al, 2013). The skills acquired are then proven clinically to be lost by the child just before the age of ten, in at least two of this areas; receptive language, adaptive behavior, play, motor skills, and bladder. Abnormal functioning of systems may be experienced in qualitative impairment in social interaction or communication or a stereotyped behavior activities and interests.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopment clinical disorder from childhood that has been persistent since 2010. The research carried out concerned the years lived with the disease and the adjusted disability lived years (Baxter et al, 203). The research carried out on about fifty-two million cases showed a prevalence of 7.6 per 1000. Global analysis revealed that almost 58 persons per 100000 people had adjusted and lived with the disability.

Kanner’s theory- to Kanner, who first identified the disorder in 1943 on eleven children who could not relate to others yet were sensitive to the nonsocial atmosphere, claimed that autism disorder is characterized by victims engaging in purposeless activities and are stereotyped. The cause of the disease is undefined by the theory he only articulated the characteristics of the disorder.

Rett’s disorder theory: Rett believed that the first incident of the disease occurred in 1966. Andreas Rett first discovered the disorder on the unusual behavior of a series of girls who were washing their hands (Canelle, 2013). Andrea found out that the disease was caused by certain MeCP2 (methyl-CpG-binding protein2) gene mutations. During growth (at the age of four) the child's head begins to slow retrogress inhibiting normal hand movements causing stereotyped movements of the hands like wringing.
