The potential effects of five different factors on the development of an idividual
Factors:
Factors are things that affect a person or an outcome.
Genetic:
Huntington’s disease:
Some people are have mutations in their genes, that are linked to conditions and illnesses, this gene may not of affected the person with it but this gene mutation is likely to be passed on to their child, and the mutation can be active and cause the baby to develop a condition or illness in their life time, as some mutations and the condition or illness they are linked with does not have an affect on the person who carries the gene mutation it can go un noticed.
A Neuro degenerative condition called Huntingtons disease is linked to a mutation on chromosome four, Huntingtons disease can cause symptoms early in someones teenage years for example obsessive behaviours and schizophrenia like symptoms can occur in a few people, personality changes, extreme mood swings and illnesses such as depression, problems with co-ordination and uncontrollable movements. Huntington’s disease affects a person physically because of things like tremors, and co-ordination problems, it also affects a person emotionally because of the emotional changes and affects that Huntingtons disease causes for example mood swings, possible psychosis and could lead to depression. It also affects a person intellectually because of problems with memory and judgement impairment and can affect a person socially because of possible isolation because of depression, or how someone perceives their Huntingtons disease for example if they are ashamed of it.
Cystic fibrosis:
Cystic fibrosis is a condition that is caused by a defective gene, the chances of someone passing the gene on and the child being born with cystic fibrosis is 1in4, cystic fibrosis can cause problems with the lungs, digestion problems and problems such as arthritis, liver problems and can cause problems in conceiving children. Also because of digestion problems and respiratory problems with the lungs this can lead to conditions like osteoporosis as osteoporosis is caused by malnutrition, lack of physical activity, poor growth and repeated infections. If someone has digestive problems this can mean that the nutrition from food is not absorbed as good as it should be, respiratory problems can cause problems with inhaling oxygen and this can mean physical activity is limited as the person will become ‘’out of breath’’ quicker. Cystic fibrosis will affect a person physically because it will cause lung problems, digestive problems and other health complications because of cystic fibrosis for example because of digestive problems and not being able to digest nutrients from food as well as someone who does not have cystic fibrosis does this could cause osteoporosis. Cystic fibrosis could also effect a person emotionally because they may not be able to do things that they want to do like sports, when other people can and this could lead to low mood and annoyance about their condition which could affect their self esteem, also because if someone has cystic fibrosis there could be possible problems with conceiving children, and if someone wants children this could be very dis heartening. Cystic fibrosis could affect someone socially as it could mean that someone with cystic fibrosis gets tired easier because of finding it hard to breathe, and oxygen is one of the compounds needed for the body to create energy.
