1.0 Introduction:

The Goodna City Council has decided to form developments in unused lands in the area as part of its urban footprint extension project. One area that the council is interested in is the land that currently serves as the catchment area for Goodna Creek. For this project to be successful a structure for the proposed road crossing needs to be constructed.

A hydrologic study for the catchment area will be needed and a calculation for both the 10-year ARI and 100-year ARI peak run offs will be needed. To calculate this, the Rational Method will be used with the assumption contributing catchment is rural. Other calculations will be carried out to determine culvert elements for the project according to the 10-year ARI runoff. Clear and comprehensive engineering drawings detailing the final proposal design will also be included.

2.0 Calculations

Using CAD software and an overlay for the catchment area a few things were determined and calculated. This consisted of the total catchment area, the longest drainage area and equal area slope. The total area and the longest drainage length were found through Autocad and Microsoft Excel was used to calculate the equal area slope. These are our results:
