Nowadays, knowledge is power. A lot of people use their additional time to learn some other things to rich their own knowledge that it will be the advantages in their jobs or studies. E-learning become popular in our daily lives as it can be learn in any time any places with low price.
There are always two sides to everything. Recently, I got a new job and joined the new staff training through E-learning. Learning from the videos and PowerPoint, then answering the questions in the questionnaires. I think this training is effective for me because I can know the background, operations and safety knowledge in the company. For company, E-learning can help them to save cost and time rather than providing class training. However, the actual requirement is that all answers should correct in the questionnaires. But most people cannot do it. So, there are some problems in this E-learning. The teaching materials are not good. Some questions are related to technical or specific operations that are not mentioned in the learning materials. I still need to ask other staffs for help. In additional, the trainers only tell you the correct answers without any explanations and the questionnaire setting has some obviously mistakes.
From my point of view, I think E-learning is suitable to learn the basic knowledge. The professional level knowledge should be learn from class, the resource of E-learning can be as reference. We cannot ensure all contents in E-learning materials are corrects, and we cannot fully communicate with the trainers. At this situation, we can learn the basic knowledge from E-learning, such like language courses for travelling, basic computer skills or something for beginners. For professional knowledge, it should be contained a lot of questions and team discussions. Learning in the class, we can ask questions immediately when we confuse or find some questions. At the same time, we can share our opinions with classmates and learn from each other.
