Check Point: Human Needs
Maslow’s hierarchy starts with the low human needs and moves up to the highest human needs. Maslow’s hierarchy basically shows us that in order for humans to want to achieve higher human needs they first need to achieve the lower needs. The lowest human needs began with physiological needs like food and water, next is safety needs like living in a secure environment, love and belongingness come next, esteem needs like having a good career follows with the highest human need being self-actualization in which stage humans need to feel that them have achieved their highest needs and are happy with their lives.
My personal need for physiological hierarchy would be to have the basically needs to live from day to day, for example in order for me to function I would need enough food, water, and sleep so that I am able to work inside and outside my home. My safety needs are that I am safe inside my home; I have satisfied this need by having an alarm system inside my home, with this my need for security has been satisfied. I am married and have a son, I love them very much and I know they love me too, I also have extended family members whom I am very close to and I know they return the same affection, so my personal need for love and belongingness is satisfied. My personal need for esteem hierarch is not complete because I feel that career wise I need to achieve more, I have a career goal that I have yet to achieve, when I do reach my goal my esteem hierarch will be satisfied. For self-actualization hierarchy, I feel that I have yet to reach this hierarchy because I do not feel like I have fulfillment in my life, I have incomplete goals but I believe after I achieve my goals I will feel fulfillment and happiness in my life.
