Education is needed by every school-age children so that our society are able to bring up leaders for the next generation. Unfortunately, education for the rural areas is not sufficient. According to the raw date (figure  ), it can be seen that in the year of 2010 there are 912 schools in the rural areas while in year2012 it had increased to 961 schools. In this 3 years, there is a positive growth in education in the rural areas. So why it is that there are changes from last time till now? Why are the number of schools in 2010 or past years so low? There are a few factors that rural areas school-age children do not enrol in schools.

Firstly, due to the poverty in rural area, usually each family member is expected to contribute to the family income once they reach an age that they are capable to work and help in contributing. For example, in an agriculture-based community where farming is the primary livelihood, children are usually there to help with the work especially during harvest season, hence, in the rural area, education sometimes could be an unattainable luxury to the family because if the children are studying, it means less help in contributing income to their respective family who are barely surviving for daily necessities. Moreover, due to lack of money, they are unable to send their children to private school and hence depending on government schools which provides education at a very low quality or at a point where it doesn’t even make a difference for the children for attending these schools.

Secondly, funding in other areas by the government are not enough, although public schools are free as the basic facilities are not even properly provided. For example, for people who live in remote places, it is merely impossible for them to travel to school every day due to the distance between their home and the school, so it is preferred that they master some practical skills and help the family out since a young age. Besides that, fewer committed teachers and teachers that are not trained in the latest training or learning technology and will influence the quality of education they provide. Not only that, lack of proper text books and learning material in the schools will minimize the students learning and also will cause them to lack of interest to pursue their education.

Thirdly, another major drawback for people living in the rural area to pursue knowledge through education is due to the lack of interest. Most of the children were taught by their parents that practical knowledge such as hunting and fishing are the most important skills that should be master in order for one to survive in the harsh conditions of life. Also, as most of the textbook or teaching materials are usually presented in English which might not be the native language of the particular rural area, hence the students would lose their interest very quickly as they fail to understand the class.
