An effective web design enables users to locate information quickly, in a logical way. Are users visiting the intended content? Does the website design adequately guide them to the right areas on the web page? Is the website able to retain the users’ attention? These are some questions that need to be asked when evaluating website design. Website design is not only about content, but also about how quickly the design loads and how long it takes for users to move from one section of the web page to another. These aspects are of particular importance since they directly affect user experience. Website design can be the make-or-break factor that determines whether users click a link to locate more information, or simply use the back button to locate it elsewhere. Website design isn’t a one-time event, but a process that should be continually followed.
The intended audience for this website must be captivated and persuaded to use their services. Also they must focus on what pest the consumer needs to be removed. The audience must be interested in every click on the page and must be captivated by the details provided to the consumer. Some consumers love to read the reviews about the company to better get a grasp on what they are going to deal with if they use their service. Some consumers might even go with the rating of a company. Also some consumers use their services because of name recognition even referrals are recommended. The website’s name and statement of purpose are clear indicators of what the web site is all about. The website’s layout, choice of font, and font size are reasonable in the sense that they make the content readable. The website’s scripts seem to be working fine and there aren’t any apparent server side errors as well. All the links on the website are valid and active. In terms of performance, the good thing about the website’s design is that it loads quickly and allows for cross-browser compatibility. The web site has very little content that users could make use of. The little content that is available on the website however is structurally separated from the navigational elements.
In reference to navigation, there are just two links on the website, with one leading to contact information and the other leading to the home page. There is no emphasis on essential text and there is no site map either. It takes users a maximum of two clicks to reach a page inside the depths of the web site. The two links “Home” and “Contact” do not stylistically indicate to the users that they are clickable. The website’s name is displayed on an over-sized image of a bug which is blurred on the left and misaligned with the links section below. The choice of color (dark pink) in which the website’s name is displayed is a poor one because it does not stand out with the background. In a separate section on the left, the website lists down pests that the company eradicates; however, neither are the images clear nor is there any information about how these pests cause damage and how the company can help prevent it. The 2008 copyright indicator at the bottom of the web page suggests that the content has not been updated ever since. Although contact information is made available, the users are not adequately enticed to purchase any product, avail any service, or take some action. There are so many things you can enhance and reconfigure on Berry’s Bug Blaster site. The site is lacking in a lot of areas. The site will get expanded by adding the following, a “Services” page, an “About Us “, and a “Contact Us” page. By adding these pages, the consumer can get more details about what the company can provide.
