Cisco - Using Telepresence

1. List and discuss briefly the benefits claimed by Cisco for its “In-person” experiences using telepresence.

Telepresence is a new way of communicating whereby an image and sound produce by the computer seem to represent a place or a situation that a person take part in . Example: a company can have a meeting in the hall in Windhoek, but the presenter maybe in Swakopmund. However this presenter will appear on stage live in three dimensions. People in Windhoek will see the presenter on stage.

Cisco is a large co-operation that produces computer networking. Many schools and companies are benefiting from the introduction of telepresence technology via a pilot program called Cisco.

Cisco provide collaboration end points customer, conferencing solution, and unified communication. The benefit of Cisco end points is that it can transform business processes with interactive videos. Company can have a conference meeting with another company at the same time as I have mentioned in first paragraph.

Cisco system can also make knowledge resources easily accessible to team member at desk top as well as enhance security and reduce IT cost. It can also improve decision making within a company since all department can get involved in one live meeting .It reduces travel cost from town to town. It also encourages information sharing and knowledge with employees, partners and customer. This can be done by helping people meet face to face over distance.
