The Internet is the most recent tool that marketers are using to influence consumers. What happens differently, or how does the Internet use these processes to sell more efficiently? They market to all types of people by tracking what people order to offer them similar products. Most people shop on a non conscious and a sub conscious level it is what drives most people to buy products. It will never be possible to fully understand why people do what they do. Take me for example I use to be a non conscious shopper. I would shop online all the time it is not because I needed something most of the time it was because I was browsing, and saw something I liked. I would shop because I was bored and had nothing to do. It was not that I had a lot of money to spare actually I am a college student with three kids I have no money. I was able to shop because most websites offer credit cards when you shop on their site. It was the glits and glamor that drove me to spend money that I didn’t have. It is the marketing tactics that companies use to lure people like me in. I am doing better now I am a more conscious shopper and I don’t let web sites lure me in anymore.
(Need Recognition) What are some ways that Internet marketers are attempting to trigger consumers’ recognition of needs? By using banners that display the product in color it enhances the product. They also use pop ups windows, that’s when advertisements pop up on the computer screen if you click on it another screen will open in another page that will allow you to purchase that product. Another trigger they use is web cookies, “a small piece of data sent from a website and stored in a user's web browser while the user is browsing that website. Every time the user loads the website, the browser sends the cookie back to the server to notify the website of the user's previous activity.” Cookies was also designed to collect information like emails and phone numbers for future solicitation. What are some things that Amazon is doing to activate need recognition? Amazon uses the frequency method that’s when they take the products that you have recently purchased and place them at the bottom of the screen. They use that tactic to try and get you to purchase more of the same product. Amazon also display items that you might like at the bottom of the screen. That way you have options to try new products similar to the ones you have already purchased that is made by a different company, or you can try something new. Amazon displays exciting things on their web site, by using information they collected from your shopping habits it allows them to market the things you are interested in. They also use the five star program it’s when other customers give their review of a product. You are able to see if the product was liked by a lot of people or no one at all.
