R & D | Strong emphasis on R & D as it ensures its products are of the highest standards. Strive continuously to innovate new product line to meet demands. This helps BT to maintain a competitive advantage over its rivals. |
Strong Branding | It has established itself as a strong Singapore brand winning several awards. Being first mover to come out open kitchen concept for bakeries. |
Strategic locations | Their outlets are strategically placed in central business malls and MRT stations. But its presence is still lacking in the suburban food courts and petrol kiosks. |
Current challenges:
Intense competitions from many local bakeries and with newer overseas players like Paris Baguette coming into the market.
Increasing cost in rentals of outlets at strategic locations and restrictions of foreign workers quota compel it to continue to upgrade and invest in high technology equipment to increase its productivity. This may cause a strain in its cash flow.
Future challenges
To be able to achieve sustainable growth consistently both locally and overseas. To take advantage of its strong presence in china to increase its market share.
Due to high rental costs in strategic locations and high capital investments in automated equipments, it will need to maximize its utilization by exploring possible co∼branding Strategic Alliances or Joint Ventures in areas like Halal bakery and also market its products outside central business areas and malls.
To ensure that is able to customize its products to meet the various global and different tastes buds of each country and even down to the provincial level to stay competitive.
