Introduction

Cabela’s provides products and services for people enjoying the outdoors. The company was started on the kitchen table of its founders Dick and Mary Cabela. They started out making fishing flies. They advertised in outdoor magazines and their flies flew out the door. When the kitchen table became too small and the demand for the flies high, they used the basement of a furniture store as the new office and production area. Within five years the business grew large enough to warrant moving to a large 50,000 square foot building. Cabela’s became famous for their catalogs. The Christmas addition being the most popular. Today Cabela’s has its own Visa credit card, a hunting adventures business and a trophy properties business. In 2004 Cabela’s made its debut on the New York Stock Exchange. “In 2006 Cabela's web site was ranked No. 1 in the outdoor retailer industry and the company was named Company of the Year in Sporting Classics magazine's prestigious Awards of Excellence. Dick, Mary and Jim Cabela are members of the Sporting Goods Industry Hall of Fame, and Dick Cabela is a member of the Direct Marketing Association Hall of Fame.” (Cabelas.com, 2014) Cabela’s number one focus is still that the customer comes first and always will. Cabela’s mission statement “As the World's Foremost Outfitter, we passionately serve people who enjoy the outdoor lifestyle by delivering innovation, quality, and value in our products and services.” (Cabelas.com, 2014)

New Division

Cabela’s will add a hunting dog sales website. The mission will be to pair quality hunting dogs with quality sportsman.  Like their Outdoor Adventures site which offers hunting trips and their Trophy Properties website which lists premier hunting lands for sale the hunting dog site will be linked to the Cabela’s retail website. Cabela’s Hunting Dogs will be a sales site where sportsman and hunters can go to find hunting dogs from around the world. The site can be accessed by buyers and sellers alike. For sellers the site will allow them, for a fee, to post an ad for the dog or dogs they are trying to sell. Buyers can search for dogs for sale. Cabela’s will handle the payment from buyer to seller as well as the shipping requirements. All types and breeds of hunting dogs will be allowed on the website. This can include hounds, gun dogs, feists, terriers, and curs. Puppies, started and finished dogs will be allowed on the site. The seller will be required to list the breed, training level, sex, age, and location of the dog. It will be a benefit to the seller to leave contact information as well in order to answer potential buyer questions. The buyer can search certain criteria and even filter for the particular dog they are looking for. For example if you are looking for a Blue Tick Hound Female puppy in Colorado you can search all those criteria.
