Emotional intelligence(EI) is a skill that involves the ability to perceive, assess and positively influence one's own and other people's emotions. Employee Engagement is the extent to which workforce commitment exists relative to accomplishing the work, mission, and vision of the organization. Studies have shown that the goals of organizations are achieved effectively through efficient Job engagement of employees which is influenced by managers with high EI. If he job engagement of the employees increases, then each employee accepts specific challenge and responds in a favorable way towards achieving a goal. Studies have also shown that enhanced employee engagement will pay real dividends for the organization and it will favorably impact achievement of the organization's mission and goals.

EI is all about :

a)Managing ourselves

b)Managing our interaction with others

c)Understanding more about human behavior

d)Understanding consequences more

There are three main models of EI :

1. Ability EI model

2. Trait EI model

3. Mixed EI model

Ability model :

In ability model, emotions are useful sources of information that help one to navigate the social environment. According to this model, individuals vary in their ability to process information of emotional nature and also in their ability to relate emotional processing to cognition.

Trait EI model :
