The career I decided to focus on is Zurich as this is a company I was with for about 7 years and this was a great company to work for as I like what their mission and vision statement stood for. The mission statement: Integrity, Customer centricity, Sustainable value creation, Excellence, and Teamwork. Vision statement: To build on their customer centricity spirit and the highest ethical standard Zurich will conduct business activities with a corporate philosophy of “Care” and “Innovation”. Zurich also wants to make sure they have their customer’s trust, and attempt to be known as the best global insurer in their market.
Zurich is a company that is globally known and has been around since 1872 that serves their customers for being a multi-line insurer. They deal with mid-sized and large companies in over 170 countries. In order to be able to do such a think Zurich knows they must put their customers first. Zurich offer many lines of businesses and are there to protect the people and their things. It is important for Zurich to protect and approach their understanding of managing risk both for the customers and stakeholders.
While working at Zurich I realized how important their mission and values were and it was something they wanted their employees to implement. They made it clear that without our customers there was no Zurich. One may not always understand why their job is important or how it affects others when it is not done right or on time. It was also taught that there were both internal and external customers. We all work together and must understand how our job is important and affects everyone else. I learned so much while working with Zurich and it is something I can consider a transferrable skill because we should always do our job with integrity and most important realize that our co-workers are also our customers. We all rely on each to get our job done. Everything we do is important no matter how insignificant it may feel. As employees of a company we should try to also understand why we do what we do and why it matters. If we do not understand this I feel we will not value our job.
