This report provides an analysis and evaluation of Sustainability issues, scientific Management approach and Staff management and care of McDonald’s Australia Limited. Method of analyzing include observing the running of McDonald’s stores, evaluating the food quality, service and management process with case study and journal articles, also analysis the annual report for knowing the economic aspect of this company.
We all know McDonald’s is a successful fast food restaurant around the world from 1955 until now. One of the factor is taste catering to human in all age in this 21 century. But this is not the main factor of dominance of fast food market. Management is the key factor to demonstrate the advantages of a company. This report is discussing the process of management of sustainability issues, scientific management approach and staff management and care in case of understanding the dominance.
- Sustainability issues
Sustainability management is the responsibility to ensure a company’s operations are using all form of capital- social, environment and economic- in such a way that all stakeholders receive value, and that the capital required by future generations is maintained (Robbins S, Bergman R, Stagg I, Coulter M, 2015). McDonald’s is working hard in this management categorize because the brand life is sustain by solving the sustainability issues.
Social responsibility is important, it is an element to make human love the company and to pursue long term goals that are good for the social, the business intention also required by law or economic. Therefore, McDonald’s have a good approach of customer safety. McDonald’s is doing well in maintaining customer trust by ensuring the food safety. They have an actual food safety plan based on the Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) approach. ‘A HACCP plan identifies hazards to which products might be exposed and the critical points where control measures must be in place’ (McDonald’s Australia 2012) then establish a system for monitor the employee to take correct action. By the HACCP plans, it has hundred different safety and quality inspection to ensure the process in places are safe. And there are 52 qualities check from supply chain to customer.
Most of us impress the food choice in McDonald’s are French fries, hamburger, chicken nugget, which are unhealthy food. The social taste changed to eat healthily, that didn’t match the impression of McDonald’s, social change affect McDonald’s decision. In 2002, McDonald’s CEO Guy Russo starts attending obesity forums and meetings with key organizations such as Diabetes Australia and the Obesity Taskforce. They are trying to process the food healthier by changing the ingredients and method. ( Wellard, L. Glasson, C. and Chapman, K. 2012 ) Also, they start providing healthier menu option, for example, salad, fruit pack.
