Introduction
Innovative is the right word to describe Samsung Electronics. Samsung Electronics is one of the many subsidiary company to Samsung Group. Despite being one of many subsidiary company, Samsung Electronics contributed 70% of Samsung Group’s revenue. The company focuses on consumer electronics such as smartphones, tablets and television. Samsung Electronics have been proven to be a great success to Samsung Group. In 2012, Samsung was crowned the largest smartphone maker in the world due to its high popularity in Samsung Galaxy line of devices.
Approach used by Samsung Electronics
Total Quality Management is a structured approach used for organizational management that aim to improve services and quality of products to increase customer satisfaction. There’s no doubt that an innovative company such as Samsung Electronics uses Total Quality Management.
One of the elements that prove that Samsung Electronics uses Total Quality Management is its intense focus on customer. In this modern era, customers are consider the main priority for smartphone companies due to tight competition of the smartphone market where smartphone companies such as Apple and Xiaomi are close behind Samsung in terms of market share for smartphones. For example, when Samsung Galaxy S5 was released, there have been many criticism coming from both users and critics. Many people criticize the design of the Galaxy S5 for being too creaky. In reply to that, Samsung decided to improve the design for their next Galaxy S6 by using metal and glass on their next Galaxy S6 to give it a premium look. As a result, many users and critics praise Samsung Galaxy S6 design for being classy.
Moving on, Samsung Electronics also show concern for continual improvement. In 2011, Samsung Electronics was named the world’s largest technology company (Sammy, 2013). Being named as the one of the largest technology company means that they have the advantage in consistently improving the quality of the product. The organization have the commitment of never being satisfied with their products that they innovate, and instead, they try to improve the quality of products every year. For example, after the launch of Samsung Galaxy S5 in 2014, many people praise the smartphone for its beautiful display which consist of 432 pixels per inch. According to a display expert known as ‘Display Mate’, they said that Galaxy S5 have the best display on the market (Dr.Raymond). Despite receiving huge applaud from consumers, Samsung Electronics does not take this as a compliment. They take the positive responses from public as a motivation to improve their display on the next Galaxy S6.
