RLJ 7: My experience about group work
According to the specific definition, group work is a form of voluntary association of members benefiting from cooperative learning. We do it now because it enhances the total output of the activity than when done individually, and we need to improve our communication skills and good interpersonal skills in order to prepare for the higher education.
I’ve done various group assessments such as role-play, presentation, perform, report and so on. What last the deepest impression to me was the GAC group project of web2.0 apps report we finished last week. I was the sculptor of our group and I always motivate my group mates to focus on the work. At the beginning we didn’t know how to write the report properly, we didn’t even know what the “reference list” is. However, we tried as hard as possible to learn and support each other. While we were cooperating, the emergency appeared: we couldn’t find time to work together and when the document was transformed from our computers to the teacher’s, the format was totally changed. In order to rescue our project, we divided the work into three different parts and then used the computer in school to format the text. Fortunately, we finished the total report on time and got the top marks in our class! Nothing we could feel but the pride and the power of teamwork. I really enjoyed working with them and I’m looking forward to get our assessment feedback.
In class we discussed on the topic of group work. We concluded the advantages and disadvantages, we learnt about the behaviors as well. For me, group work developed the sense of responsibility of me. Meanwhile, I feel satisfied that I built strong friendship with those capable students and I absorbed lots of values from them. Many students said that they had problems in reaching agreements during group works, and I think I may have the same problem in the future. On the contrary, I suppose that I could be benefited by solving these problems, how inspiring it is to improve ourselves by cooperating!
