Reflective Analysis Assignment

 In my English 101 class, I got afraid make bad in the beginning when I started to write. My professors and friends helped me a lot of correcting after I finished first draft, they told me that I have a lot of syntax error and advice me to read many essay can help me to improve my writing.

As an international student, I find use English to express my ideas is more difficult because we have different culture. I like write anything if I want, that mean if I remember something I will write down immediately. I didn’t care if it was mess-up or clear enough to let myself understood because actually I even do not know what I was writing, and I didn’t even want to read it again after I finished. During my first project, I started to realize only first draft is not as good as an academic essay.

My first project for English 101 class was a rhetorical analysis that examines how can I persuade someone. I wrote about I persuade my father to buy a new computer for me. I did not know how to write this title, I had to write down all persuade plot if I can remember. I feel it was so hard because I do not know how to use English to express what I mean, and it was my first time to write a 1000-word essay, I had to use dialogue to minato words. In the essay, I just want to say difficult process for persuade my father, and the result was imperfect, but that was too difficult to express in words. We did a peers review in our class, each two exchanged our paper in order to get feedback from our classmates. I had never done that before because I'm afraid of being a joke I wrote badly, although I thought it was help a lot. After I read my peer’s paper, I realized I had some new idea for my paper. And then after our second draft, I had an individual conference with my professor who suggested me go to writing center for grammar corrections. That was how I done my project one.

For project two, I had a research paper in writing about writing. Based on the most familiar, I chose to write something about Facebook. I wondered why the Facebook is famous among people. Before Facebook, there is much communication software, but only Facebook has become the biggest winner. For this question I interviewed many students and other professors, and I summed their answer that Facebook has variety of users and personality characteristics. From the Facebook, we even can get more idea for writing, and we can see many different way and methods of writing by people whom in all regions. My new draft idea is from Facebook.

This quarter is going to the end, and I can do the better now. In fact, I didn’t like writing at all because writing is always hard for me. My English 102 class will be done at soon, and from the English 101 to 102 my writing is improved a lot. Nobody can say his writing is perfect and no any mistake, so I still have other problem in my writing.

In the English 102, my first project was choose a campaign rhetoric that analyze the rhetorical strategies the campaign is using to send its message, and use this analysis to evaluate this campaign. In the campaign rhetoric, I need examine the key elements of the rhetorical situation: the communicator, audience, message and purpose, context. These requirements make me a headache because I do not know what the mean of requirements, how can I write with them. In here, I have to thanks my friend, he explain to me and told me I can write what I am thinking first, after that I can use these requirements to revise the composition. I choose Anti Meth-Drug for my topic because it is easy for me. When I was in Chinese elementary school, I always watched the TV news or heard other people talk about dangers of drugs. So I have lot information to help me to decide my opinion. Of course I still face a problem that I cannot summary well of my thinking, and my classmates also told me that my essay have this problem in peer review. After class, I consult my future team leader and she told me I can write anything I want in a paper first, then one by one choreography. In fact, those problems all are easy to solve, but I am not to rational thinking. I will change my bad habits and improve my writing skills.
