Helping Weak Student

The life experience of been away from home and the family, has taught me to be independent girl. That is already in a way a real achievement to me and I am proud of myself. I have no regret and no complaint about it.
The college then was very particular about achieving academic excellence and was competing vigorously with other colleges in the country for excellent final exam achievement.
My college then had some problems with few weak students in some subjects. So the college came out with a mentoring system to address the problem so as to achieve its goal of achieving 100 per cent passes and distinction grade points for the college.
Students who have shown some level of strength in certain subjects were chosen by the college to become mentors to the weak students, despite the fact that we all were at the same level preparing to sit for our year end exams.
I was selected to be the mentor for 5 male students who were identified to be very weak in English language papers for the exam. The college has no formal guidelines or special curriculum for me to use to help these weak students to improve in the English language subject.
I was given the responsibility and discretion to come out with own programme or plan to help these students to improve their English language for the year end final exams. I was required to manage my time with these students without devaluing my own study time.
So what did then was, I analysed each of the student’s weaknesses to find out their actual problem and level of command of English.
These students were shy to converse in English and they were mostly quiet in the class as we were encouraged to speak in English during formal sessions in class.
So, I came out with a strategy. These 5 weak students have to attend my afternoon tutorial class 4 times a week, leaving me to do my own revision in the evening. They were given English revision class,
