Within this day and age, there are many factors that can influence the choice of individuals to travel to certain destinations rather than others. The reason that this research is taken place is in order to identify these factors.
Some examples of the common factors that would very much interest people to travel would be place, price and promotion. Tourism is now a global industry connecting hundreds of millions of people worldwide that have been recognized as fastest rising sectors. These industries make it as a key column of economic development of any destination country. World travel and tourism council (WTTC) find out by their latest research in 2011 that from Travel & Tourism industry’s direct input to global GDP growing by 3.3%, to US$1,770 billion at the year 2010.
It is argued that identity-related motivations are fundamental to all tourist experiences and vital to understanding not only why individuals engage in tourism but what benefits they derive from the experience, suggesting that individuals often use tourism as a means to explore, maintain and even disengage from particular aspects of identity.
1.2 Research objective
The research objective of this paper is to have a better understanding on why people like to travel to other places and what relationship it holds with demographic variables. Furthermore it is also aimed to furnish understanding on how these factors and influences will have an impact on their lives and the locals they are visiting.
