Animal Farm Characters

The first impressions that I have gotten from the characters in Animal Farm that I have met so far, has to be generally quite interesting.

The horses, Boxer and Clover are the most gentle and caring animals on the farm, I believe that this is rather interesting as, a horse usually wouldn't have these characteristics due to their size. Clover, is the more motherly one, and acts like a mother to most animals. Clover often suspects the pigs of violating one or another of the Seven Commandments. Where as boxer is a huge beast, he is the size of eighteen hands and is as strong as two horses put together but, despite is aggressive looking appearance he is quite gullible and loyal to those who are superior than him. You then have another horse, who is different to Boxer and Clover, this horse is Mollie. Mollie is foolish, pretty, dainty, flirty, selfish and only wants money and wealth, she pulls Mr Jones's carriage and craves the attention of humans, she also brags about her Ribbons. Her ribbons belong to the human world, and when Animalism takes place, she would have to get rid of her ribbons so, she wont be happy the same goes for her sugar cubes. Mollie also represents the petite bourgeoisie that fled from Russia a few years after the Russian Revolution.

In overall, I like the mix of different characteristics between the horses

You then have the goat Muriel. Muriel is a wise old goat who is friends with all of the animals on the farm. She, like Benjamin and Snowball, is one of the few animals on the farm who can read. I like the fact that she is clever, because then later on she might be able to do something against the pigs.

The Donkey Benjamin is clever and is one of the few animals that can read but, is very negative about everything and is the only animal in the farm
