1.Do a search on Project Management job requirement and job specifications in at least four companies that are in different industries.

The four project management companies that I researched belong to Financial, Healthcare, Consulting and Technical industry .The following were the finding of the research:

1a.What are the similarities and differences?  

Similarities and Differences:

Similarities : There are various similarites in the responsibilities and skills of project mangers across various industries:

  • Leadership Skills: PM will have to keep your employees motivated, resolve conflicts and make hard decisions for your employees.Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members’ individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels
  • Time Management: PM will be working with employees, customers and management, often spinning multiple plates at once. Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short- and long-term goals
  • Math and Budgeting: Project managers are expected to keep and maintain a budget in almost every field. Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis.PM will need to be confident in using math skills to make sure you know where your company's money is going.
  • Analytical Skills: PM will also need analytical skills to be able to solve problems that may come up during a typical work day. PM will be analyzing data and making decisions that affect the project on a regular basis.
  • Communicating with Clients :Meet with clients to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project.Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other staff members,track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short- and long-term goals
  • Establishes, maintains and reviews statements of work (SOW), work breakdown structures (WBS) and related dictionaries.
  • Basic assessment of risk for each project.
  • Familiarity with SmartSheet software’s collaboration and time management tools
  • Experience with process improvement and inventory control.
  • PMP Certification or Scrum Cerification.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.MS Word and MS Powerpoint.

Differences:

The following are the differnces based on the industry the Project Manager is working:

Industry related skill set and qualifiacation : The project manager of  healthcare requires to have cetain qualification in healthcare.Like for Crowe Horwarth ,the  PM for Charge Capture engagements for hospital needs to have some health background.An IT project manager will need to have some experience in handling IT projects and also aome technical background.

Experience :There are different levels of project management job with different titles like Project Manager ,Lead Project Supervisor,Construction Manager,Project Manager (Part-Time),Product Manager,Program Manager and all of them require different levels of experience.The experience varies from 2 years to 15 years an dmore.
