The questions above are part of our problem statement in which we are seeking for a solution. We have created a survey of 10 questions that focus on the three questions that we listed above. The questions we are asking in this survey are yes or no answer and base on numbers as well. We are using the four types of scales such as nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio scales. Below is an explanation of the types of survey questions that are involved.
Measurement Used
Nominal Scale: The nominal scale is use to obtain personal data (Sekaran, 2003). In our survey question number two, three, four, and five and nine, we use nominal scale in which we obtain personal data of the individuals we are interviewing. The individual is giving us her age, for how long she tried the diet pills and how much weight she lost.
Ordinal scale: The ordinal scale is used to rank the preferences of various brand of a product that individuals will use, and to rank order individuals or objects (Sekaran, 2003). We use this scale in number 10 where individuals are telling us what kind of diet pills they try.
Interval scale: The interval scale is a scale that represents quantity and has equal unit. On an interval scale, the distance between any positions is of known size (Sekaran, 2003). We use interval scale in questions one, six, seven, where we will find if the individuals we interview will recommend the over the counter diet pills and if they believe in them.
Ratio scale: The ratio scale is used in organizational research when exact numbers on objective factors are called for (Sekaran, 2003). This type of scale is use in question number eight and 11 for a specific number so we can calculate a ratio and average.
