Administrative Interview
Florida Medical Center (FMC) is a tenet facility specializing in cardiovascular care. This writer has been an employee of FMC for the past nine years and has worked in many departments, encountered numerous managers, directors, and charge nurses. Today, this writer works in the emergency room (ER) department where she enjoys the company of her co-workers, supervisors, manager, and director. To do this interview, she decided to have a conversation with the director of the ER, Jessy M. This paper will discuss how the organizational expectations impacted the director’s decision making, and how her choice influences her colleagues and work environment.
Jessy has been an employee at Florida Medical Center for over 25 years. She is a registered nurse now studying to become a nurse practitioner. Jessy is the director of the ER department. Her responsibilities include overseeing the staff procedures, corporate planning, and budget improvement. She ensures that inventory, handling and dispensing of products and services are in order. She also directs the staff in the active and well-organized use of emergency medical services. She knows that her position as a director can be overwhelming, but this writer has seen and admired her strength and desire to stay afloat.
Tenet Healthcare vision states “Tenet will distinguish itself as a leader in redefining health care delivery and will be recognized for the passion of its people and partners in providing quality, innovative care to the patients it serves in each community” (Tenet Health, 2014). Jessy stated that reminiscing on tenet’s vision statement allowed her as a leader to provide excellent, and advanced care to the patients that come to the emergency room. She also directs the same qualities towards her staff members, knowing that it will create a positive atmosphere for them to deliver passionate care for their patients.
