Cirque du Soleil is a global company which is practising a strong culture by taking and embarking on creativity in order to become the leader in the entertainment industry. A company with a strong culture actually possess and consists of the values, beliefs, attitude and behaviours that employees share and use in daily basis in their work. A culture that determines how employees describe where they work, how they understand the business and being part of the organisation. Therefore, in Cirque it can be clearly reflected that the strong culture has given them chances to grow as professional and personal by holding the principle of warm environment which encourages openness and family orientation.
There are a lot of positive appeals and features that we can see from the practices of Cirque as a global player, we can note that;
(i) Adapting to a global recruitment policy
We can understand that Cirque adopted the global practices by implementing the geocentric approach where artiste which is touring a country will adopt to that particular country recruitment policy which been considered as a one of the good practices. As shown in the case study pregnant employees which is touring in China will be following the maternity leave and benefits based on the country China. This is to protect their rights as Cirque is managing a vast diversity talent from different parts and culture.
(ii) Anti - Discrimination policy
Cirque learns from the mistake after they had been legally sued by a HIV patient on the selection which makes them to change the current policy just like Coke. They start to implement a anti -discrimination policy and even include training. Since we can see that Cirque is in align to support the LGBT groups. This reflected like what most of the global company even like IKEA has been practising to gain most of the minority group support and this will enhance the reputation of the company to show that they are keen in practising the anti discrimination policy.
(iii) Additional benefit – staff wellbeing
In Cirque there are a lot of additional benefits that employees can gain such like the insurance coverage, immigration for those touring artiste and encourage a work life balance. They policy of even the temporary worker’s enjoy the benefits of this is well accepted and shows a practices of a warm environment. This additional benefit is the non-monetary aspects that most of the employees will seek in the organisation. This benefit is seemed to be a positive encouragement for employees to be organisational committed. The entire artiste also given a physiotherapists and fitness specialised to look into their physical fitness. Beside this all the employees may enjoy the benefit of the fitness class for minimum fee and there also availability of the acrobatic and artistic training room. Beside this the additional benefit that gain by the employees is the complementing the hard work a non monetary reward to their employees particularly for their travelling artiste by having like cocktail hours, barbeque and fun parties. This is one of the element that can be used to distress the employees so that they can perform better and being more energetic. The staffs which in touring get more additional benefit by even getting welfare for 24/7 and even sometimes they allowed bringing their family members.
