The focus of my academic paper is to shed light on a renewable resource called solar energy. As you may guess, it is the process of collecting sunlight and converting it to energy. Fossil fuels, which are currently used, are a nonrenewable resource, which emits harmful pollution into our ‘environment.’ Solar panels and solar furnaces are a very untapped market since only, a few areas across the world put them to use. The installation cost is a hefty fee but the long-term environmental and financial benefits are what make solar energy the wave of the future. Not only can solar panels lower your electric bill significantly electric companies can also use your house as a grid and pay you if the panel generates a large amount of energy. It is an interesting phenomenon how much solar energy can change an entire existence. When a person makes the choice to switch to solar energy that choice influence a community or town. From the small ‘place’ that implements solar energy it can eventually influence an entire world to change their lifestyle. The end goal is to allow our environment to breathe from all the past and current pollution that is damaging it; also, for it to regulate our plant life, wild life, and human health, it all comes full circle. I caught interest to this particular subject because; my grandfather is interested in different ways to use solar energy. Over the past year he installed solar panels on his roof, which produced enough energy to power his house, and eventually, the company paid him for the extra energy he was creating. It has become a topic of conversation in my household and my grandfather has been a wealth of knowledge when I choose this subject as my topic. He inspired me to do my own research and really understand how solar energy can benefit a person and also the environment we live in.

Solar energy is the future of modern energy. This certain type of energy is rarely tapped into in the present day since currently 80% of the energy we use comes for fossil fuels and approximately 1% comes from solar energy. This should be concerning for the present day ‘people’ because, fossil fuels are a nonrenewable resource which means they are used faster than they can be replaced. Eventually one day we will run out of this limited resource however, solar energy is a constant source of energy which is collected every second the sun is out and is a renewable source of energy. The pollution that emits from modern day fossil fuels is detrimental not only to the health of ‘people’ but, the ‘places’ they live and the ‘environment’ which we are all surrounded by. This dreadful pollution is the main cause of acid rain and the alarming phenomenon of global warming. Solar energy does not emit these toxic and harmful chemicals because; it takes the natural rays of the sunlight and converts it into electricity, which is used to power lights, computers, home appliance, and many more daily machines. This is the future of our present day society; the sooner we realize the ways our ‘people’, ‘places’ and ‘environment’ are interconnected and effected by the harmful ways we accumulate energy today, the sooner we can implement solar energy into our daily lives.
