Report on Effective Team Work
Teamwork is an important component of the successful performance of any organization. To assess the significance of teamwork, the value of each team member must be appreciated. Each individual has varying skills, strategies, backgrounds, and work experience. This will enable the team to bring more shared knowledge to the table in terms of ideas and solutions. A good team enables each member to empower himself and increase benefits from cooperative work engaged on as a group. According to Wageman (1997:49) “company’s teamwork is the only way anything gets accomplished with quality and efficiency and a major reason why economic growth is under control”.
Open communication is the most significant feature in a team. It is important that team members communicate with each other on a frequent basis with clear methods of transportation. The methods include face to face meeting, phone calls, and emails. All these should be positive and should be heading towards the target of the group. To that that, all team members must be fully aware about the main objective of the work intended.
Another aspect that should be always taken into thought is coordination. It should be clear that each individual has a lucid understanding of his task throughout the project. It is also necessary for all group members to be aware of what others are supposed to do. Coordination will improve member to member relationships and encourage team spirit. This will lead to higher work efficiency, hence achieving the objectives more rapidly.
Collaboration and participation are two important key factors for effective team work. Honesty and mutual trust should be evident in all time between team members. Without these two principles, the process will be a lot more complicated. All individuals should have the chance to contribute in the process of the project and build on other member’s ideas.
Reflection and self assessment should happen every once in a while throughout the process of the project. Members should evaluate each other’s work and make sure they are all on the right track. In other words, everyone should be following an assessment module that has been agreed on the since the start, facilitating the whole procedure. The reflection should occur on an individual basis and then as a team. At the end, it is important to perceive whether the team output met the anticipated standards or not.
