Angela Stoldt told officials she killed her neighbor James Sheaffer last year and tried to cook away evidence.

Stoldt's house in Deltona smelled like burning flesh, but she told her daughter it was just a rat cooking in the oven, according to details that went public last week after a grand jury charged her with first-degree murder. This 42-year-old Deltona woman is accused of killing James Sheaffer, 36, a limousine driver, in April 2013. Last week, the grand jury listened to those details and upgraded the charges against Stoldt to first-degree murder. She originally was charged with second-degree murder. She is most likely going to get life in prison because the prosecutors don't want her to get the death penalty. The case started April 3 last year when the neighbors met at Stoldt's house to talk about money problems. Stoldt gave Sheaffer a cocktail with an addition of her father's prescription drugs. The prescription was a muscle relaxer which made him drowsy and confused. Stoldt claimed self defence which the judge denied. Stoldt told her son she had a rotting deer that she needed to get rid of. They got rid of the bags in dumpsters behind a New Smyrna Beach fish house. Three weeks after the death, Stoldt showed up suicidal to her parents' house confessing to killing her neighbor and then her sister called the police on her.
