Huffman Trucking Database
Huffman Trucking is in need of a database to track maintenance of their fleet of trucks. The database will be required to track key data points as well as flag a truck when it is in need of maintenance based upon specific mileage intervals. Huffman originally hired Smith Systems Consulting to develop the database but Smith Systems only delivered the entities and attributes portion of the database. Huffman, still in need of a Fleet Maintenance database, selected Team A as consultants to produce the required database.
Team A began by producing an ERD (Entity-Relationship Diagram) for the entities and attributes that was requested from the Service Request provided by Huffman. Huffman also submitted additional change requests which required some minor changes to the final product. The change requests are documented below. Team A will provide documentation for the process used to create the tables. Team A will also provide documentation on the forms and queries created. The relationships and normalization efforts are also documented below as required by Huffman Trucking.
Project Scope
Huffman Trucking required Team A to produce a functional database for tracking the maintenance of the Huffman Trucking fleet. The database, to be referred hereto as FMDB (Fleet Maintenance Database) will be used to track all aspects of maintaining the trucking fleet. An ERD (Entity-Relationship Diagram) will be produced and provided to Huffman detailing relationships within the relational database. Tables will be created to track individual vehicles, parts, and vendors as well as purchase history, maintenance preformed, and issues arising from maintenance and purchasing. Huffman Trucking will provide the entities and attributes catalogue as created by Smith Systems Consulting. Team A will also respond to any change requests provided by Huffman Trucking.
Change Requests
Huffman Trucking submitted 4 Change Requests (CR 2-5) to Team A which are documented below. These changes constitute the bulk of the database work effort and have been successfully completed. A summary of the change requests are below.
CR 2
Requestor: Huffman IT Project Manager
Description: Using Microsoft Access, create the tables for the Fleet Truck Maintenance database.
