Network Overview

Kudler Fine Foods is a local specialty food store located in the San Diego area.  Kudler Fine Foods has 3 locations: La Jolla (Headquarters and main store), Encinitas and Del Mar.  

The main structure of the networking in each store is a 100 Base T Ethernet cabling structured using Bus topology.  Each store is equipped with five (5) HP Blade servers containing a fiber-linked 10 TB network attached storage, with 3 APC Smart UPS Battery Backup systems to prevent data loss in the event of power failure.  The stores are linked with a secure, dedicated synchronous optical network housed on a T3 dedicated line.  The lines are secured by a firewall which keeps data secure, there is an open port to allow outside internet traffic through at a limit of 25 Mbps.

Each storefront uses a similar layout.  Three (3) point-of-sale terminals hosted on one (1) server running the NCR RealPOS 82XRT terminal with scanners, cash drawers, touch screens and receipt printers.  Each store also uses six (6) Dell Vostro computers running Windows 7 with 802.11n network cards.  While they are equipped with network interface cards, it is currently unclear whether they utilize this functionality.  The stores make use of six (6) VOIP phones for communication purposes.  There is one printer, an HP CM2320nf Multi-function printer. that is used as the main printer for each store.

The main store in La Jolla also serves as the headquarters of the company.  It contains an additional thirteen (13) computers and VOIP phones.  To service the call-center, in addition to the main Multifunction printer utilized for corporate use, there are 2 B & W HP P3015n laser printers.  The La Jolla store also runs NCR Point-of-sale software.
