Choosing the Correct Sticky Back
1. Look at the template that you have chosen. The templates are in a yellow envelope that gives you the following information: Linework or process work, and the print cylinder used (number of teeth of the print cylinder i.e. 72T, 84T etc.)
2. Look at the number of teeth that is needed and check the “Flexography Stickyback Chart” (found inside the door of the cabinet that contains materials for the press. In this chart you can check the thickness of the stickyback you need according to the number of teeth of your plate cylinder. There are only two possibilities: 0.020 inches and 0.015 inches.
3. Now that you know the thickness of your stickyback, it is now time to find out what density of the stickyback you need. To do this you have to look at the chart labeled “Plate Mounting Tape Product Guide”. This chart can be found on the cabinet beside the drawers that hold all the templates. To use this chart look at your template and the thickness of your stickyback. Find the stickyback where all the facts match up.
4. Lastly, on the other side of the cabinet that has the “Plate Mounting Tape Product Guide” chart, there are all the types of sticky back. Find the one that best suits your chosen plate.
How to Mount Plates
1. Choose a template(s)'' of your choice.
2. Find the sticky back and print cylinder appropriate for your template.
3. Mount the plate cylinder on the plate mounting device. Make sure the gear of the plate cylinder on the left side and that you have secured the cylinder. This will prevent the cylinder from falling off later on.
4. Line up your sticky back with the score line. Make sure that the sticky back is not butted against the gears of the plate cylinder. Leave a little
