Holding a management position is certainly a hard task. It was a struggle to find someone because their schedule. A good manager uses the organizations mission and vision to make difficult decisions. They have to communicate and collaborate with others to make sure their plan is achieved. That is why I was so excited Olivia Estabaz, MSN, RN contacted me. It was a pleasure speaking with her and she helped me understand her organization’s mission to improve women’s health. Olivia Estabaz is an assistant vice president at Hutzel/Harper hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Hutzel Hospital is the leading organization in Michigan for women’s care. She is an instructor and director of various programs in the hospital. Ms. Estabez is also the head of the Magnet Recognition Program. The program acknowledges health care organizations that strive for the best nursing care and excellence.
Organizational Expectations and DE scion Making
Olivia expresses that the code of ethics and mission play a big role in her deskin making. Hutzel/Hospital believes that access to quality care is the right of every human being. With that said, she keeps the whole organization in mind when it is time to decide. Although she does not bring her personal belies to the work environment. There is still a moral obligation to deliver the best care available. The vision of the hospital is give cost effective care, she explains that she strongly believes in the organizations mission and keeps it in mind when making decisions.
Organizational expectations, Colleagues and Work Environment
Hutzel Hospital believes in communication and team work. Olivia explains that every time she makes a critical decision it affects her work environment and colleagues. She thinks that communication and collaboration between the hospital’s department, can limit frustration within the staff. Ms. Estabez has to collaborate with managers in different departments in Hutzel. For example, if one department has a concern, the department will have a meeting with her. They address the problem and notify other managers in the organization. Team work is essential and she makes sure each staff member has input on major decision.
