According to "Cambridge Dictionaries Online" (2016), personality is “the special combination of qualities in a person that makes that person different from others, as shows by the way the person behaves, feels, and thinks.” Every person has his own individual differences such as traits and behaviors that describe them to be different from others. Being successful at recognizing and managing these differences is most important to achieving success in both your career and personal life. However aside from individual differences such as intelligence, personality is something that was a bit harder to measure until psychologists and researchers of organizational behavior came up with a concept they call the big five personality dimensions (Kinicki & Fugate, 2016, ).
The big five personality dimensions are a way to simplify many different and more complex personality types into five personality dimensions: extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and openness to experience. Before taking this test and analyzing the results, one must first understand what each of these dimensions represent. Extraversion which is sometimes referred to as surgency, refers to traits such as being energetic, confident, and talkative. Agreeableness refers to traits such as sympathy, kindness and good-nature. Conscientiousness refers to traits such as being responsible, organized, and achievement oriented. Emotional stability refers to traits such as being relaxed, secure, and at ease. Finally, Openness to experience refers to traits such as intellect, imagination, and open-mindedness (Srivastava, 2016).
Most perceive personality as someone being likable and fitting however that could be perceived differently by different people. If a recruiter is given the direction to find people they like and that they think will fit in well with the housemates, the result may be different if a different recruiter was sent on to do the same. That is why the big five personality dimensions are as important as they are; they give previse and specific data (Kinicki & Fugate, 2016, ).

My first step upon receiving these results were to try and decipher the meanings of each personality factor as they pertain to my everyday life. I was expecting a higher level result of extroversion as I am a very outgoing and talkative person. I have never had a problem walking to a room
