When we talk about the phrase “Problems in Living” it can mean many things to different people. For some it may mean the need for food or employment. For others it can mean healthcare or housing. In some situations you can have the need for multiple things. (Tricia McClam, 2009) In lower income families you can have the need for food, healthcare, employment and housing. With the economy the way it is more and more families are experiencing “problems in living”.

In what I do for a job, I hear a lot of stories that wives can’t get jobs so they are struggling as a family to make the bills, get food or a job. The military provides health insurance. Housing for the military is an issue also. When a soldier gets here they are sometimes told that there is a 12-18 month wait for on post housing. So they are forced to try and find a house on the economy and are sometimes forced to send their families home to their parents because they cannot afford the rent and all the utilities that come with it. “Problems in Living” is a global issue.

In Ruth’s case several problems exist some of them being that she cannot work or drive. She does not know what her financial situation is. She has no income and does not know what her income will be from her husband Ray. Some services that might be of help are financial assistance or budget planning. Looking to see if there are services that provide transportation to things like her medical appointments or the grocery store. If she has minimal income maybe she can apply for food stamps or go to a local food pantry.

In Ruth’s case she will definitely need more than one service. Although she worked she never had to worry about the bills and finances as her husband Ray always took care of those things. Now with his death she is faced
