The Tyler Kahle Story was the tragic death of a young man due to a simple human error at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, Tyler was only nineteen years of age. He just graduated high school, loved to rollerblade and spend a lot of his time with family. Tyler had an Aortic Dissection, which is blood entering the wall of the Aorta and dissects along that wall. Aortic Dissection can strike suddenly to anyone at any age and sadly Tyler died within 10 days of his symptoms. Tyler’s Aortic Dissection was hereditary, his father had a successful surgery repair in 1998 on his Aortic Dissection and his uncle also battled the disease but sadly lost the battle at age 38 in 2001. Tyler was rushed to the hospital with chest pain, was given a chest X-Ray and EKG and eventually was sent home. He was instructed to follow up with his primary physician. Tyler’s father who was very familiar with the signs and symptoms asked physicians to take a closer look at Tyler’s symptoms but physician’s insisted it was a respiratory issue and that Tyler was too young to have an Aortic Dissection. The only way this type of disease can be detected is by imaging the Aorta and in Tyler’s case, they failed to do so. Along with all the health issues, Tyler was experiencing allergies were another concern. It was a reason to believe that Tyler's allergies were causing him to be ill, and the effects of his chest pain became more intense causing him to revisit the hospital. Tyler’s mom and dad pleaded to have imaging done on his heart and were told by three different physicians his symptoms were respiratory related. The third time in just ten days Tyler went to the emergency room and died with an Aortic Dissection. Methodist hospital was very negligent when it came to the care of Tyler. They failed
