Stress Management Plan

Stress management is an important part of everyday life. Surprisingly, the goal for stress management is not to totally eliminate stress. Stressors can be both positive and negative emotions. A life without sadness and joy would be boring. Another positive stressor is the stress of motivation which allows individuals to perform at high levels. However, in order to maintain a healthy and balanced life, a stress management plan is essential.

One important area of stress management is relationships. As an individual, I have several different roles and many different types of relationships. I am a student, friend, daughter, sister, granddaughter and girlfriend. Though all of these roles, I have to adapt to communicating with people in different ways. In order to keep positive and open communication with my family and close friends, I know that I have to use appropriate nonverbal communication skills and also read others' nonverbal communication skills. Personally, I have a habit of using a lot of facial expressions and, sometimes, this can be a negative factor. I have to be careful to not let my feelings and emotions show on my face if it will be misinterpreted. I also plan to work on my verbal communication skills. Basically, I just need to learn to think before I speak and make an effort to carefully listen to what others say. Another aspect of communication that I plan to work on is focusing on others and not always me and to form my questions carefully so they are not considered to be intrusive.

As a controller, I plan to continue with careful time management.
