Section 1:
The Christian church I went to visit was Lakewood Church, it was a Non-denominational Christianity. It is the largest congregation in United States. As I pulled in the parking lot, I was quite shocked seeing how big the church was. The exterior of the church was beautiful. As I entered through the doors, there was a glass wall with doors and stairs on the other side that leads the way to the chapel. And right above glass wall, there was a quote that you can read as your entering the building. It was “For I know the plans I have for you.” Declares the lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you plans to give you hope and a future.” I thought it was very welcoming because as soon as you read that quote, you feel like you have come to the right place and lord will help you through anything. Right above the quotes, as your eyes wonder, you see a big bookstore/ sitting area where you can sit and read books about the lord.
As I walked through the glass doors, the stairs lead up to the player room, and as I entered I was in shock. The chapel was as large as a stadium. It was enormous. It can probably hold up to approximately seventeen thousands people. The first thing I saw in the middle of the stadium was the main stage, it stood out because it was in white while all the seats were in black. On the main stage there was the huge world globe in the color of gold, was spinning 360 degree. I felt like the world globe symbolically represented that anyone from the world is welcomed. No matter which part of the world you are from we are all one here. We all reunite as one. Right in front of the globe, there’s a podium that has a logo on it, which looks like a bird and some addition made to it. I asked of one the staff members what that logo stands for. Their description was its dove with the Holy Spirit flame. As I looked at the main stage, it separated between two sections for the choirs to stand, and the two sections were separated by the globe in the middle. There was a projector right above that, so people can see the speaker or the minister that’s talking and feel connected. And the ceiling had twelve beautiful squares, which changed color as the lights changed throughout the stadium. The color of the lights kept changing.
As the service was about to start, they dimmed down the lights. The first person that came on the stage, he introduced himself as Joel Osteen. Osteen is the senior pastor of Lakewood Church while his wife, Victoria who serves as a co-pastor. He welcomed all the visitors, and he mentioned that Lakewood church is a part of word of faith movement. Word of Faith teaches that Christians can access the power of faith or fear through speech. He starts with god’s sermon and says a short prayer, everyone stands up and raises their bibles in name of lord. After the short prayer everyone takes their seats, and Osteen starts to talk about
