Recreational Drugs
Many individuals today are taking risk with their lives without even knowing it! Recreational drug use is considered to be using a substance with pharmacologic effects for personal pleasure or individual satisfaction rather than its intended medicinal purposes. Studies have shown that individuals both young and old have learned that recreation drugs are not good for them. They have found out the hard way that misusing recreational drugs causes many negative consequences. Individuals need to be more aware that recreational drugs such as Alcohol, Cocaine, and marijuana have contributed to criminal activity, health problems and addiction. There is no doubt that awareness of the effects of these drugs, needs to be addressed by the world today, to prevent the negative statistics that recreational drugs have caused. In return, it will give many individuals a chance to say no to these drugs before they decide to misuse or participate in recreational drugs use.
Alcohol is a recreational drug that many individuals use today. Alcohol is known to display many different feeling in an individual’s, such as a number of feelings such as sleepiness, happiness, relaxation, and drunkenness. When an individual consumes alcohol, it immediately enters their bloodstream and effects their mind and body. Alcohol is mostly consumed sociability. Bing drinkers are known to misuse the drug alcohol and result in the disease of alcoholism. It is estimated by (National Institution of Justice U.S. Department of Justice, 2007) that more than half the people that are arrested in the U.S. test positive for alcohol. When an individual misuses alcohol it can more than likely lead to addiction. Individuals addicted to alcohol have contributed to the increase in crimes such as domestic violence, sexual violence, property damage, child abuse and robberies. When alcohol is consumed as a recreational drug they allow themselves to suffer harsh side effects that can cause long term effects on the mind and body. Heart and respiratory failure, liver disease, sexual impotence, central nervous system damage, memory loss, and depression are some Illnesses caused by consuming alcohol.
