Part I-Transformative Leadership Paper
Transformative leadership is where the leader of an organization or business who can transform the groups or the organization with motivation to higher levels of functioning and creates a vision to guide and change with inspiration and commitment with the process to help the followers develop his or her own leadership potential. Meaning the transformative leader holds higher positive expectations for the followers believing that they can do their best. Transformative Leaders care for their team of follower’s feelings and needs, which in turn inspires and empowers the followers to exceed their levels of work.
The agency in this weeks reading, I feel that they were self-aware because they did understand diversity. Firstly, Nick, the journalist, eagerly wanted to meet the others of the agency. The board members were not all on the same page where things that needed to be noticed or aware of the welfare of the agency. The members knew the budget cuts were coming up, but yet they did not make changes accordingly. Secondly, the members did not communicate with one another properly. They were focused more on each owns life experiences and diversity, rather than their education to help people in need. This is important for their agency to succeed, they are missing the bigger picture and are focusing on themselves and not on the clients per say. As soon as some of the board members are put in line and are redirected of their own self-awareness and the affects, things cannot move in a more productive manner for the agency.
This agency is missing the more important details because of their management has placed their self and own feelings as a priority over the business. In the reading the “Salt and Pepper in the Pot”, the idea is that the professionals have their own perceptions of self (Burghardt & Tolliver, 2010, Chapter chapter 10, Salt and Pepper in the Pot). For example, one of the ladies of the board stood up and made a comment of “You People” and used statements like “ I can handle my departments with out any assistance”, shows me their unhealthy personalization of their work ethics of the department in which they are working in (Burghardt & Tolliver,
