Needs Assessment
The decision is to determine whether a training plan would only require instant or constant needs. It is recommended to initiate training as a strategic investment because it will serve as a blueprint for Landside Limousine. Within this training, all employees are required to be included. In addition to the continuing education, every new employee needs to be trained to receive the right skills. The end results should support the mission and objectives for Landside Limousine by understanding the processes, implementation, and desired outcome.
According to the U.S. OPM (2016), conveniently three levels of training need assessments are required, which are organizational, occupational, and individual.
- Organizational assessment
- Deals with evaluating the corporate performance that assists with determining the organization skills, knowledge, and abilities required.
- Additional items to assess would be the economy, changing demographics, technology, and political trends.
- Occupational assessment
- Occupational assessment estimates affected groups based on knowledge, skills, discrepancies, and gaps.
- Individual assessment
- Considers how well one is performing his/her job function for performance increase or promotion.
According to Cascio, the training needs analysis breakdown these three levels further down into five practical studies and shows their order of execution, (2010). The five functional analysis is environmental, organizational, demographical, operational, and individual.
Environmental Analysis
The environmental review deals with both internal and external influences. The authorities will address procedures, laws, finances, restrictions, technologies, union, and policies. Landside Limousine strength in Austin, TX will depend on the company staying current and knowing the market forecast. Austin, TX is heavily saturated in the limousine market with 283 existing companies. Some examples will be annual health and security training that is required by statute. Customer requirements are an important factor that determines the prerequisite skills for a job because creating contact and returning customers are needed.
Organizational Analysis
The organizational analysis concentrates on detecting if training is going to support the organization’s strategic guidance; if leaders, co-workers, and wage earners support the training activities; and which training resources would be available (Cascio, 2010). Landside Limousine will utilize the organizational analysis to see how to structure the wage earners and how to conduct training. Landside is planning to employ 25 individuals with a ten percent turnover rate. They should continue to review the employment agreement with the staff member to set clear and realistic expectations. The projected net revenue in the first year is negative $50,000 with a negative five percent growth. The feedback between the manager and staff member should be set at regular intervals to keep the employee informed and to close any gaps.
