Training Plan
Rumors have been known across the board to have detrimental effects on the human psyche, particularly when it consistently reappears itself. Rumors are never good in any setting, especially in a workplace scenario. They hamper work place moral and lower productivity. If taken even further, motivation would significantly drop in all facets of life and the mental stress could lead to outcomes such as depression. The goal for this workshop is to prevent the hazardous effects of rumors and how to counteract them. We will present scenarios that involve different instances and outcomes rumors can have. From our presentation, we hope you will learn how to address each issue in a professional manner. Our project will help guide you from the stress of gossip through acted out scenarios and hopefully learn the ramifications of conducting in gossip/rumors as well. In order to play out each scenario, we will ask for a vote out of three options for each scenario. We will then provide an explanation to each option and explain why one option is better than the other three. In our explanation, we will also speak on the conversational skills needed to actively end or at least minimize the effects of gossip in the workforce.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this workshop, participants will know:
1) How to properly assess and handle the impact of gossip/rumors in the professional workforce
• Through our scenarios, we will go through in detail how to deal with the issue of gossip. Hopefully, through example, participants will learn the skills necessary to avoid/handle gossip
2) How to avoid conducting in gossip
• For one of the scenarios, we will show how one co-worker what’s to engage in some sort of gossip but the other co-worker try’s
