Journal Entry #2
First of all, when working with another person to produce an outstanding result, it is important to confirm that we respect, agree and understand the specific task or roles we are assigned to. I have collaborated with a number of different people throughout high school and the results were mostly effective but some were not due to lack of communication.
After identifying the task I am assigned to, I commit myself to work diligently to provide the other person with a satisfying information in due time. It is also important that I ensure to meet the expected deadline and expectations. Most importantly, I would exchange contact information with my partner to keep each other up to date and also to arrange a meeting that would be suitable for both of us. In order to collaborate well with the other person, I would prepare and organize all the necessary information, and try to finish ahead of time with the intention of offering my partner with any assistance, if needed so. Also, I would gather my partner’s contact information.
On the day of the collaboration, it is essential that we both participate in discussion and take turns during discussion. I always wait patiently for my partner to finish talking to avoid any interruption and confusion afterwards. When it is my turn to speak, I would share my understanding of the context and try to contribute more crucial information that was not mentioned yet. I would discuss any conflict that would arise and compromise with my partner to resolve an issue.
In the end, I learn that I improve at least one thing at a time as I collaborate more with other different people. Also, I learned to be more cooperative and helpful throughout the entire project. However, I also learned that I put too much pressure on my partner to complete everything earlier than the due date. Therefore, I should create a timeline and follow through with it. Furthermore, I learned that I had trouble expressing any disagreements without raising any conflict. Thus, I end up creating more issue. Eventually, I would need to rephrase my words and improve my tone of voice.
