Job Description and Recruiting Strategies Worksheet
Conduct an interview with someone who has a career or job position that is different from your own. Identify the duties associated with his or her position, as well as any skills and abilities necessary for the position. Use the information gathered in the interview, as well as the Week 3 readings, to complete the following worksheet. Answer each question in paragraph format.
JOB ANALYSIS
1. What are the duties and job responsibilities associated with the position held by the individual you interviewed?
There are many different duties and job responsibilities for the person I interviewed. Some of the responsibilities and duties are supervising ten or more employees, ordering, delivering, and replenishing items in the warehouse. He is also responsible for tracking the movement of the government materials used for the aircraft. The person I interviewed is also the supervisor for the night shift in his organization. There are seven people working under him. If there are any problems, he is the one they call. In addition, he has the ability to work any of the positions on the night shift. Therefore, if there is someone that is out sick or on vacation he is able to take on their responsibilities as well.
2. What are the types of knowledge, skills, and abilities that are needed to successfully accomplish the job responsibilities?
The skills that are needed to successfully accomplish the job responsibilities would be the ability to multi-task, organizational skills, and must be computer efficient. In addition, this position is a supervisory position and it requires the skills to manage others as well as the ability to communicate clearly with subordinates. The position requires knowledge of the positions of all subordinates. This is important because if there is a person that is out he will need to pick up the slack of those positions. Problem solving skills are also necessary. Any issues that ensue need to be taken care of as soon as possible due to the nature of the job.
3. Does the position require any physical tasks? If so, describe the physical tasks and state their frequency. Is there any additional information about the job that would be beneficial to include in the job description?
There are many physical tasks required for this position. The position requires the ability to lift 50 or more pounds. There are different items that need to be loaded on trucks for delivery. The loading and unloading of shelves is also required. Through the shift,
